Buttercup's 1st Challenge

There are a few things I would like to share here...our 5 year old daughter (my Buttercup) is my creative partner and often makes cards beside me in my craft room. She asks too many questions and for too much help sometimes but she is always great company. I encourage her to take her own creative journeys while using the supplies that I have out...

She LOVED my flip flops and decided to play along! She has also caught me blogging as of late and is quite intrigued and wanted to have her own card on my computer too! So sweet...here it is...
The other part that many of you do not know is that Creative Bug is more than a nickname...it's a series of workshops that I have been running for more than a year. My focus has been on children's workshops where we have had children as young as 18 months to 7 years join in for some creative craziness! So, Buttercup has learned a lot in the last year and loves all things to do with creativity!

We are very much looking forward to getting Creative Kids up and running again but it has been delayed until the New Year when we are hoping to have the Workshop set-up. Until then Creative Adults is getting a bit of a head start with a few little workshops over the next few months.

Check back for more details!

Scrapbooking

Well, when I was looking for something at Michaels the other day I happened upon their new scrapbook selection...I had never seen such variety or such fun choices there before! So, I splurged and got myself a new scrapbook and the matching paper for my cake decorating adventures...
Then, in my blog hiking what did I find but a cool blog that gives you layouts and samples following those layouts. So, here is where I have gotten so far with my attempt as I need to have a picture of the final product printed (I didn't have just the right shot) and add it as well as a title...I am hoping to 'watch' my mother's Cricut sometime soon so that I can do some titles!
I will try to get some pictures during the daylight for you so the lighting is better for now this will have to do!

Beate's Sketch Challenge...

Well, there are all kinds of blogs and websites out there that have all kinds of neat stuff on them...one of my favourites is Beate Johns' does a weekly weekend sketch challenge. I have to admit, first of all it was tough and second of all I have never been very good at playing by the rules so as a result, my card does not have all the specified elements but I hope that you can forgive me as it is my first try at this!

Without further ado;

Supplies used:
Stamps: Pick a Petal, French Script
Paper: Rose Red, Basic Black, Summer Sun and Rose Red Designer Paper
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: Certainly Celery Ribbon, Silver Brad

So, I hope that Beate approves and next week I will try harder to stick to the task at hand (of course by then I may have my newest possessions to add to the mix!)

Christmas Cards Vol III

I must admit, I am beginning to feel a little Christmas'ed out but I did come up with a few more samples today (it's pretty challenging as I only have a limited number of holiday type stamps so I apologize for the repetition!

Here is a very Merry type of card...

This one was very popular with the kids...the Seeing Spots background could be replaced with snowflakes (once I have recieved my order!)

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Letterpress Alphabet, Snow Play, Seeing Spots
Ink: Real Red, Glorious Green, Basic Black, Pumpkin Pie
Paper: Real Red, Glorious Green, Whisper White
Accessories: Ribbon, Small and Large Tag Punches, Word Window Punch, Slot Punch

Now this card, I made on a whim and am very partial to (I think it's my favourite so far...)

I think the simplicity of it makes it quite elegant...if you are looking for elegance...

Supplies Used:
Stamps: Baroque Motifs, Warm Words
Ink: Old Olive, Purely Pomegranite
Paper: Old Olive, Certainly Celery
Accessories: Certainly Celery Ribbon

Clearly Fun!

Well, I was looking for something to brighten my day so I finally started to cut and mount my Pick a Petal Stamps and created this card which I think is clearly a winner!

This was such a neat technique...I am going to have to go buy some more acetates now! I hope it brings a smile to your face on a rainy day too!

Supplies:
Stamps: Pick a Petal, Warm Words
Ink: Purely Pomegranite, Old Olive, Basic Black, White Craft Ink
Paper: Whisper White, Old Olive
Accessories: Silver Brads, Aqua Painters, Clear Embossing Powder, Ribbon (on inside of card)
I used the embossing powder to dry the craft ink (the first time I did this it was SMEARY!)

Enjoy!

Christmas Cards Vol II

Alright...enough procrastinating for now...I have a couple more card samples for Christmas (it's hard to stay focused in August!!!) I apologize for the slight imperfections on this card, I was interrupted while working on it...

The honest truth is that I am quite partial to both of these cards but for different reasons...but the snowmen are definitely my favourite of this pair!

I guess it's pretty obvious that I love my Snowmen and my circles! More samples will come over the next few days!

Enjoy!

Well, the cake was a hit, assembly was a breeze...and who could say no when there was chocolate and lemon cake to choose from! Here is the finished product...
Now, I'm not one to share too much family life but I did want to share this because it has to be one of the best picture of the kids I have yet to take...

Thank you to the Birthday Granny for such a beautiful dress for Sarah! What a great day it was! Granny wasn't expecting a thing either! Now it's time to get back to card making...I have some Christmas prototypes to design...

Well, these cake decorating adventures have lead to a number of orders (that I have had to turn down) and a lot of interest and support. It's nice to be appreciated!!! So, it's the night before final assembly...here are a few last pics before my presentation of the cake tomorrow...

The top tier...

and the bottom tier...

What makes YOU happy?

I don't know about you but for me a job well done...the job isn't yet done but I am feeling quite pleased with myself as I get ready to tidy up for the night...I am working on the last cake that I am going to make this summer (I've done more than I did in the whole last year!)

So here it is...the top layer

and...the bottom layer...

I am still working on it but I am quite pleased at the work I have completed thus far with very little complaint...outside of my DH complaining about the mess!

I am hoping this is going to be a beauty as it is for someone special...so I will post some more tomorrow but you will have to wait for final assembly...(I'm afraid we all will)

Enjoy and have a great night!

Well, I haven't had any time for stamping as I have baked 2 cakes this week and have one more to do before the week is up! So for now, you will have to endure cake photos! I love a theme...a party without a theme is like a car without wheels...so we had the kids party on the weekend and had a Crayola theme...without further adieu here is the cake; The kids loved it!!! Everytime I make one a new cake, there is always a new lesson in it for me! Just one more cake for this weekend and then I am going to take a cake break!

Daycare Mail

Well, the kids have adjusted well to being home since we moved...we have changed "Jeni-days" to "Daddy-days". In the meantime, we created some gifts to send off to Daycare to say "good-bye". I thought it would be fun for the kids to have "Colour your own Greetings".

I made some for the girls and some for the boys...here is a closer look;

I included 2 cards, an 8 pack of crayons, 2 envelopes and a mailing label with our new address on it. I hope the kids enjoy them and use them to send mail to all their friends!
It was a tonne of fun to make them! Well, off to do some work now!

We've Moved!

Hey Everyone!

In case you didn't hear we moved! There was so much to do I tried to help accelerate the packing this is a peak at how the packing began...

All nice and tidy right? I wish I had a photo to show you what it looked like after Martin and his brother were done packing the container! But, we made it here...and we are starting to see some progress inside and outside the house. Now, I wouldn't be a good stamper if I didn't have a card to share with you...so here it is...

And a closer look if you want details...

I had so much fun creating these! Here are the details;
Stamps: Seeing Spots
Ink: Basic Black, Summer Sun
Paper: Old Olive, Summer Sun, Close to Cocoa, Whisper White
Accessories: Silver Brads, Silver Cord, Stampin' Pastels, Distressing Tool, Blender Pens

Good Morning Sunshine!

We have had a few Birthdays as of late but my favourites are always the children's cards...they seem to be the easiest for me to relate to sometimes! I made this card for a daycare friend of the kids...she loved it (I think her mother may have loved it more though! One of the things I love about this card is that it does not open like a typical card...take a look...

I created this using;
Stamps: Pretty as a Princess
Ink: Basic Black, Chocolate Chip
Paper: Pink Passion, Close to Cocoa, Whisper White and Designer Papers
Accessories: Stampin Pastels, Aqua Painters, Silver Brads
