Sew busy!

I had a cake to do for this week...there was no direction given other than chocolate cake, chocolate fondant, chocolate filling. Done...now what?I added blue and some streamers and stripes...just putted around really. Then I realized something.
I made a cake to match my bedroom! I just made these pillows this week as well. I was inspired by http://sew4home.com/ What a fun website! They showcase so many great patterns and fabrics!

First I made this pinwheel style pillow as inspired by this article.
Then I made this mixed pattern/striped fabric pillow as inspired by this article (that fringe was tricky! I don't think I'm glad I didn't buy extra!!!)
And my favourite was inspired by this pattern. There are 2 versions of this one on their site. One is made with 2 fabrics like this one but the black & white one has clearer directions...the thought of 'fussy-cutting' sent me running so I went with alternating fabric instead!

I don't believe I have ever done this much sewing before but it is good to be using my fabric and catching up on some old projects! I finished the curtains for our room ages ago and posted about them back in June!!!

Enjoy!

This is important, I need your help...

For those of you who don't know...I live minutes away from downtown Beamsville. Just days ago there was a devastating fire in our local 2 For 1 Pizza shop. The blaze was called in just before 4am and firefighters fought it until about 7am. If you take a look at the photo...in behind the shops there is a rooftop, well, there was a rooftop. A family lived there. A mother, her daughter and their cat, Mr. Whiskers. We know them. Yep, the mother is an ECE who works with our youngest. The daughter goes to school with our children. This is all very real.

But here's where it gets really tough. The mother was laid off in August...money was a little tight. They didn't have insurance on the contents of their apartment. They need our help.

Think of all your worldly possessions and then think about what you need just to get through a regular day. Imagine replacing it all. All of it. Please help.

Contact me @ heather@creativebug.ca for more details. We are looking for big things and small...an inventory is being kept. The girl is 11 and going into grade 6. She is size 10-12 and wears size 6 shoes.

School starts in 2 days she only has what was packed in her bag as she was away when this happened, thank God for small favours.

For more information about the fire see here.

Please help.
