Caution: Simon's 2!

I don't know if you really saw what Sean and I decided to put on the cake the other day but it was;
Caution Simon's 2

We are definitely experiencing the willful nature of a toddler trying to find his way here...the biggest difference with Simon is that he's doing it without words! Simon has lots of sounds and uses them like words but he doesn't have a lot of 'formed' words yet. All in time...
To go with the construction theme, I made a quick sign...cutting all of those triangles was a bit of a challenge but it was totally worth it! it's just too cute if you ask me!
And Simon got a safety vest and tool belt for his birthday...he loves them! In fact, I also got a safety vest for Sean and when Simon saw him wearing it he yelled at Sean and pointed at himself. It was the first time I've seen Simon indicate 'mine!' like that! It was funny!
I got out my yellow plates from our big birthday stash! I use these plates quite a lot in fact! The cutlery I had from Halloween (we wash and reuse sturdy plastic cutlery). If I actually got out more I would have picked up some black napkins but there just wasn't time for that!
Enjoy!

In case you were wondering...

What my workshop looked like when a party is all set up and ready to go...I took some photos a while back (they have been waiting to be shared!)

Cupcake decorating supplies...
Loot bags - these are our summer version - make your own s'mores at home!
The work area set-up (this was set-up for a small group. I can fit up to 14 around those tables.)
Shrink art and loot bag goodies...
I try to keep it super organized so that I know where everything is and have everything at my finger tips...of course that's only what it's like when there is a party...when I am creating? It's another story altogether...speaking of which, I do believe I have a workshop to clean!

Enjoy!

Cake Boss Jr!

I would like to start with the disclaimer that the kids do not help with cakes that leave the house...this was our baby's cake so I had an apprentice along for the ride this week!

Sean created all of the rocks on the cake...
And he was also in charge of the 'dirt'. Look how hard he worked at scooping up the extra to fill the dump truck with!
Here is our finished cake. A precedent was set a few years ago that I can't seem to escape...and that is the toys on the cake...the kids love it, DH loves it...I wanted to do something a little different but it was not permitted! It was all about the trucks.

I did have fun with that 'caution' tape though!

And look how delighted our baby was with the whole thing!
Yum! And some of his very own trucks to boot!
Happy Birthday Baby!

Enjoy!
