I gotta be honest...

We made these goodies a few weeks ago at Community Living...
I can't say for sure though which part I was more excited about...
The cookie bowl with sprinkles ready to go...
Or the ice cream they were later filled with!
I honestly have to say it's gotta be the best of both worlds!  I used the recipe found here. Check it out...oh and use mini-chips, experience says it works WAY better!

Enjoy!

Get your Shrove On!

I don't think I have ever been wish a "Happy Shrove Tuesday" before but it happened several times this year! I was pretty excited to be at Community Living for Shrove Tuesday...how much better does it get? Really?

So, in the spirit of fun and creativity we made our own Pancake Mix (who needs that store-bought stuff anyway?)
AND we packaged it up! (See that? We even made a little card to go with it...)
Then, we decided...since it was Shrove Tuesday that the thing to do would be to try out our Pancake Mix and get our Shrove on! Look how fluffy!
 Good enough to eat!
These pancakes were a huge hit! Everyone enjoyed a little pre-lunch snack and then took some of the mix home to share with their families!

I saved my pancake appetite for later when I made Pina Colada Pancakes, bacon and hash browns for my Creative Family...mmmmm. It was a good day.

Enjoy!

Something Sweet for Someone Sweet!

Oreo, Oreo, Oreo Cookie! I ain't got no Oreo Cookie! (Anyone, anyone? It's a camp favourite in our house!)

This week we did have Oreos...we had fun crushing them to make Oreo Truffles!
And we made fun labels to decorate them...
And we dipped them...so we finished off with Chocolate covered Oreo Cookies AND Oreo Truffles!
These were ready just in time to share for Valentine's Day!  Did you know that Oreos are the one store bought cookie that I really love?? Hmmmm Oreo Cookies!

Scrappin for me (err you!)

These photos have been waiting to be uploaded for over a week. Where have I been? Nowhere really...just not feeling 100% yet trying to get better I suppose. Reading Harry Potter to the kids, trying to keep up with day to day stuff and doing some baking.

A few weeks ago at Community Living we worked on making scrapbook pages that would showcase a bit about me...er...them.
We had fun creating a blocking effect and then doodle stamping over top to tie it all together.
Everyone got in on it and chose some of their favourite colours...
Then we filled out a little bit about ourselves...
And brought it all together.
The fun thing about the project was everyone's was so different...so them.
And there is something about a scrapbooking mess that kinda makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside...perhaps it's just me but I do think it's magic!

Get your heart covered!

We don't really celebrate Valentine's Day around here but I do like using it as a crafting opportunity! So...last week we made wreaths at Community Living...they were fun!

First we dyed cupcake liners with tea...
and food colouring!
Then we prettied up some super-heavy cardstock (it's the cardboard that comes in my 12x12 scrapbook paper packages), we taped on arrows and we got gluing!
This was the fun part! Watching the wreaths come alive with the cupcake liners...
Everyone had their own interpretation of the activity (I love that!)
And worked really hard to get their hearts covered...
Isn't this gorgeous?
So fun right?
I'm not going to lie...drying the liners was tricky. Want to know what happened in the end? Someone put them in the dryer! It was way faster than the oven!!! We dyed 100s of them and ran out in the end as we had 10+ people working on these wreaths.
The fun never stops around here!

Enjoy!

Handmade Gift Series!

I am SO excited about November's HandMade Series! Oh my goodness! Did we ever have fun on Thursday (we ran terribly late but we got it all done!)  The Corker Bows were a huge hit but the felt flower and the wreath were fun too!
This week's theme is jewelry. We will stamp washers and create bird nest charms...there should be time to try 2 of each.
November 17th we will create a Stationary set (complete with a sweet little case) that you can give to someone sweet!
On November 24th we will make pie in a jar! I am SO excited about this. You can freeze them and then bake them from frozen! What a great gift for family and those single men in your life! ;) Or just to have on-hand for your family to enjoy!
Girls' Night Out is a relaxed evening full of camaraderie, chatter and crafting with girls from 7 to well, Grama CB comes but I won't disclose her age!

Oh and it's affordable too! Each workshop is $5-10 and you get to take something great home!

Enjoy!

Chills & Thrills at Girls' Night Out!

Our first night at Girls' Night Out was lots of fun! We stamped, we glittered, we rubbed and we glued! We had girls from 8 to well, I'm not telling but I was not the only adult in the room for a change!

Here is some of what we made (I did not take one photo during the evening...what can I say? I was busy!)

A witch's broom filled with treats, a spider web card and a pumpkin tag! All for only $5.
Next week we are going to make these wreaths. Join us for only $10 and you can have a great wreath for your door too!

Enjoy!

Christmas Craftiness

I booked a group to come to my workshop for some Christmas Crafts awhile back...the only requests were cupcakes and maybe a card. I love that. Sooo...I get to choose the crafts? They can be old or new? Great!

In this case, they is a bit of old and new...we made our cupcakes and later decorated them to be reindeer (unfortunately, we were tight on time so they were pretty rushed.)
We also made Santa Belly Lanterns and Penguin Cards.
I had so much fun with this group! They were a riot to have in my workshop...and very conscientious crafters too!
Here are my samples...
Sarah was eyeing up my lantern on the mantle the other day...

Sarah: Mummy, I really like that lantern.
Me: Thank you Sarah.
Sarah: Mummy, do you think we could do that lantern in Creative Kids?
Me: We are done our Christmas Creative Kids for this year Sarah.
Sarah: But maybe we could do it next year?
Me: Maybe Sarah.

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who loves making these lanterns...we are getting quite a collection of them! We have now made Pumpkins, Ghosts, Snowmen and of course, our latest, the Santa Belly!

Enjoy!

Something fishy is going on here!

I did a Stampin Up! Demonstration the other night (sorry, you didn't know I was a demonstrator too? I know, it is a lot to keep track of!) and I am ashamed to admit that I found a bit of Christmas Spirit and did a Rudolph card. But seriously...who doesn't love Rudolph???We used the Sweet Centres...I love those things! The ladies had a lot of fun making variations...
I love seeing what they come up with...
I mean...how cute are those lashes???
And the eyebrows??? I love these ladies...they keep me on my toes!

Looking forward to the next time!
Enjoy!

Queen for a day

It's funny...I have been baking, decorating and helping Sarah with her sewing project most of the day. But things weren't really going my way...not at all. I will tell you more about it later. But the point is, what do you do when you need reprieve? Sometimes I read to the kids, sometimes we find something that we all enjoy...

Here's what happened today...I had a craft that needs to be done for an upcoming event so I started working on it. Well, the directions are in the form of a U-Tube video...so the kids were on-board immeadiately (they don't get to watch a lot of TV so they will watch most anything!)
The next thing I knew, I had 2 volunteers! They in fact did a lot of the work on today's creation.
And when I finished piecing all the bits together? It went straight to my head! Literally! Sarah is feeling a little cheated as I must admit I wore it for the rest of the afternoon and she feels that I am stealing her property from her!
Isn't it just wicked? And it was SO easy! I know it's a little odd but we happened to have everything we needed right here for this project. Please do go to Thread Banger and check out the tutorial.
So, why not let a sweet tiara like this go straight to your head?

Enjoy!
