Rogue One - Opening Weekend

Way...way back we had a fabulous pre-party before we headed out to see Rogue One opening weekend! I know...it's crazy late but these photos were ready and loaded up so I thought I would share anyway!

I made a new photo booth backdrop, some fun props and we made memories! Some of our friends came in costumes...

And I finished our costumes...sadly late for Halloween but they are done!

Just in case you need a refresher....here we are!!!

(l-r) Luke Skywalker, Princess Leia, Mini Chewbacca, Han Solo and Rey.

All set for Halloween or Episode VIII or even a Comicon. We are definitely ready!

Enjoy!

To Boldly Go Where No One Has Gone Before...

Well, let's face it...Star Trek isn't a new theme for many people out there but it was for us and we sure did have fun with it!

Check it out...this is the first time I have made 5/5 costumes! I made shirts for Mr. CB and the boys, PJ Pants for the boys, tunics and leggings for the Creative Princess and I! To top it off I did it all in a matter of about 5 days! A new record for me I'm sure!

My friend at Bow-Licious made the logos for our shirts. Aren't they awesome?

Now, you all know I started a new job in September right? No...I am working half-time at our church as the Family Ministries Co-ordintar. What does this mean? Time is tight! We are still adjusting to me having 20 fewer hours to do the things I do so...we put this all together pretty quickly this year.

The Food!

Did you notice our Transporter Pad Photo Booth? I found this idea on-line and as soon as I showed it to Mr. CB he was 110% on board! We kept it super simple with gold table cloths, a red sheet and silver cake boards (don't worry, we aren't going to use them for cake now!)

The kids (and bigger kids) all loved taking photos on our Transporter Pad!

Not pictured here is the chocolate treats we made, the Star Trek Bingo the kids (and dads) played and the other puzzles I found to send home with the kids.

Another year, another theme all wrapped up Creative Bug style...that's 13 years of Habgood Haunts under our belt. Who knows what next year will bring!

Enjoy!

My Lady Knight - Charming Doodle Tween/Adult Knight Hoodie

When this Hoodie came up for testing from Charming Doodle I was SO excited! I didn't know where to begin! My middle man isn't big enough for this pattern so the Creative Princess got to be my canvas. I didn't tell anyone in the house what I was up to (nothing new really) I just got to work.
You can see that initially she was hesitant...take the photos mum! But then she started to enjoy herself and the Creative Princess has barely take this hoodie off for washing!

The Creative Princess LOVES Tamora Pierce and the stories of Alanna the Lady Knight so I knew she would enjoy this...here is a quote just for you!
“Why do boys say someone acts like a girl as if it were an insult?”
― Tamora PierceIn the Hand of the Goddess
'Round here we think girls are pretty awesome!

What can I tell you about this pattern?

  • Print and tape, super easy to assemble
  • The directions are clear and it comes together pretty quickly
  • It is a fun sew! There were so many variations made (solid hoodies, colourful hoodies) it was fun to see how they all came together
  • Let your imagination go on this one! I love everyday 'costumes' and this fits that perfectly.

En guarde!

The boys are begging for their own versions and I will get to them...eventually!

Enjoy!

Harry Potter Creative Bug Style!

We made a number of signs (I actually cut that witch out by hand!) This one was near the 'bar' where we served ButterBeer.
Yes, I said ButterBeer. The kids loved it! Even without the whipped cream, it was a hit!
These were well worth the money! The kids tried them, fed them to us and we all laughed SO hard! It was a lot of fun!
We've got Snape, Bellatrix LaStrange, Harry, Hermoine and Fred or was it George?!
This was a LOT of fun! I made a mini photo booth and we used it to take photos of our guests! The kids had a lot of fun with it!
This was my favourite sign. A friend noticed it while driving by and HAD to tell me about it weeks later. I am not sure when my kids are going to outgrow my love for Halloween but this year sure was a hit!
Sorry this is coming to you SO late but I hope that you enjoyed it none the less!

Enjoy!

Halloween is still haunting me!

I have to apologize for my poor photo quality...I was having a lot of trouble with my SD Cards...I finally managed to fix the problem.  I reached back into my not so technical mind and got to thinking about defragmenting. I guess I take a lot of photos because all of my cards needed to be defraged quite desperately!

Anyway...I went to this super-sweet family party not so long ago.

To which I brought these super-sweet hot chocolate spoons to share!

And we made some super-sweet Franken-patties!

Gosh, I use that punch a LOT!
But the real highlight for me?

The super-sweet kids that were in attendance. They were there for their cousin's 2nd birthday and they were happy to sit down and do the crafts with us...in fact, I dare say they enjoyed it!

I have strong feelings about this. I have been turned down flat by some boys in the past so I never get my hopes up but nurturing creativity is such an important part of our lives. I think that creativity is what gets you places...it got me here didn't it?

Enjoy!

The Creative Princess

Sarah recently expressed an interest in decorating cakes for others and it seemed within moments she had her first real order! A Halloween Birthday Cake! She was so thrilled...

She made her pieces...
Rolled her fondant and covered her cake...
 And then began to decorate!
 Here it is...
And here is the cake mistress with her first cake order! What a girl!
We are so proud of all of our children...their creativity never ceases to amaze me!

Enjoy!

When you're the best of friends...

It was Friday morning...2 of 5 costumes were done. I had handed over the responsibility of Mr. CB's costume to him. I was stressed. There was no menu plan, I couldn't find any Toy Story Themed menus on line that were simple and to the point.

So, I broke the news to the kids over breakfast.  First Sarah started talking about liquorice lassos...
Then Sean started talking about mashed potatoes to represent Bo Peep's Sheep. Now, my kids don't actually eat mashed potatoes and it just didn't seem like party food so we started talking about marshmallows...and the next thing you know we had pink jello with Cool Whip and Mini-mallows! Yum!
Speaking of potatoes...who doesn't love Mr. Potato Head?
We listened to all of Jessie's Pull String phrases and Sarah suggested Animal Crackers...lovin' it!
This is when I got to thinking we need something a little healthier...what do cowboys eat for dinner? Chilli cooked on a fire of course!
Now, we had covered a few of the characters we would have present at the party...except for the army guy...so he brought along the biscuits!
Now for something for the kids to eat...where else would you get your pizza from?

And who doesn't love those little alien guys? Well, they were pretty punchy at the party! This was a super citrus punch with lime sherbert. Yummy!

I seem to have lost this photo somewhere along the way...but here are the Aliens that Buzz saved from the punch!
The inspiration for our party. The loves of my life.
 Our family portrait...
A smaller group than in previous years but we had fun none the less.
Happy Halloween Everyone!

Enjoy!

Yes, I did get all the costumes finished in time. It seems that I always get by.
