Post Holiday Workshops!

Everyone in the Creative Household loved that most of our time off together came after Christmas! We wish it could be like that every year! We loved celebrating Christmas in Niagara and Toronto and then spending time at home catching up and playing with our new gifts and old treasures!

It also gave us more time than usual for workshops!

We ran 3 days of workshops...our first day was a day of self expression...first shirts and then self-portrait cakes. In the case of the cakes...everyone went their own direction and that's okay too. Everyone's work was fantastic!

Day Two was more of a sewing day...we made Go Fish Games. Our younger attendees loved making these but loved playing with them even more! They found a little extra time to play and dance while our older campers made a more complex version of the game. And then we made quilted cupcakes.

Day Three we got serious! I got the hammer out and we smashed some candies so we could make Stained Glass Cookies. We also made mosaic necklaces and puzzle tins.

As always it was great to spend time creating with my friends!

Enjoy!

Back to the basics...

When the opportunity came up to test Dandelions 'n' Dungarees fashion basics, we were all over that! But...it turned out my fabric options were beginning to feel limited...so I posted this picture. Do these work together?

Mr. CB was a firm no but we disagreed so we forged ahead happily sewing along! This pattern has a dress, skirt and tee option. We went with the skirt and tee as the Creative Princess doesn't really wear dresses to school but she will wear skirts there (I don't know, don't ask!)

So the mistake with the first photo is that it wasn't in good light because once we went outside, we were thrilled!

There is one small change we made (and you can't see it here) but we built in some shorts to make it a skort. Skorts are truly essential in the Princess' wardrobe. She doesn't want to worry about what she's showing off when she's out playing.

I love the simple finish on the shirt. It's cozy and easy to wear. The skirt is full and fun great for twirling but the yoke takes the bulk away from the waist which we definitely prefer.

Cozy, simple, girly...it measures up for sure!

Go check it out...

Enjoy!

The Creative Princess Strikes Again!

After going to the Baking and Sweets Show in Toronto the Creative Princess was VERY inspired! Such that she requested to have the honour of baking her BFF's birthday cake. She planned and she conspired...but when the time came, there just wasn't time!

SO we started again...and here is where we ended up!
Pink and brown sweetness!
Her BFF was one happy girl!
The next day was full of hugs and thank yous...I would be lost without these girls...they are so sweet!

Enjoy!

PS. I DID help with this one...I did the flowers and the bows...she did the colouring, rolling and covering AND the polka dots of course!

The Creative Princess

Sarah recently expressed an interest in decorating cakes for others and it seemed within moments she had her first real order! A Halloween Birthday Cake! She was so thrilled...

She made her pieces...
Rolled her fondant and covered her cake...
 And then began to decorate!
 Here it is...
And here is the cake mistress with her first cake order! What a girl!
We are so proud of all of our children...their creativity never ceases to amaze me!

Enjoy!
